AVA Faculty and Staff Exhibition Opening Reception

ORGANIZATION: AVA Gallery

Discourse can be defined as a form of communication or conversation in various contexts. In academia, scholars often explore ideas articulated by Michel Foucault, who viewed discourse as a system of thought, knowledge, or communication that shapes our experience of the world. In sociology, discourse is described as “any practice (found in a wide range of forms) by which individuals imbue reality with meaning.” Within the humanities and social sciences, discourse represents a structured way of thinking that can be conveyed through language. In the realm of visual art, discourse takes the form of visual language. The works created by the talented faculty and staff at AVA facilitate the exchange of ideas, beauty, and skill, inviting viewers into a dialogue where we can ask questions, imagine, and contemplate.
